Everything started in 2008 when the interior designer, Elisabetta Freda, found in Cairo,
in the house of her father the world re-known architect Alfredo , a box full of sketches.
“Sometimes” she explains “You just keep things to one side, almost forgetting about them but recently it crossed my mind that I could use the drawings in a different way”.
Today’s interest in the seventies inspired Elisabetta Freda’s new capsule collection made of pieces selected from her fathers’ sketches.
Alfredo Freda has been selling his furniture in New York, London and he also collaborated with the famous Masion Jansen in Paris.
Elisabetta Freda has adapted her fathers pieces to our times. The sofa Amy is named after the talented Egyptian female painter and friend of Alfredo, Amy Matouk.
The Amy Sofa was originally made of steel but Elisabetta tried it in wood as well as in wrought iron. Another interesting piece is the table called Manfredo,
built with a single steel ribbon running under it. The idea was conceived as a candy that is enveloped by a paper twisted with a knot on each end.
The surface was originally presented in marble; today Elisabetta also makes it in leather or wood.
The table can be custom made for as few as six or as many as eighteen people. Other tables such as the Nietto, is designed with a criss cross of ribbons.
She not only proposes a reinterpretation of Alfredo’s furniture’s, she also loves to design and create Objets d’Art herself.
As everything signed by Elisabetta Freda, these “Objets d’Art” are made in Italy. Every piece can be ordered through her website and delivered anywhere in the world.
